A successful and fun co-creation project.

The Cleaning Day organised by Novotel and supported by Greenworlder was a success. The cleaning ‘heroes’ consisted mainly of highly motivated Novotel Kirchberg staff. Three members of the Greenworlder team came to support the event and do some cleaning of their own!

plan was to meet up by the hotel, equip ourselves with the cleaning gear provided by the Ville De Luxembourg and move out to clean. It was a fun day, spent with likeminded people who genuinely care for the environment. Novotel Kirchberg’s Cleaning Day embodied the spirit of Planet 21 and was an event loyal to Accor’s and the day’s ideals.

The teams were joined by two of the Luxembourg City cleaning team who led us around parts of their area of responsibility. It was a large section of Kirchberg with several hundred bins that they empty twice day, usually collecting about 50 tonnes of waste per month. Quite an impressive feat. The area around the tram looked considerably better after the teams had swept through, as did many other areas in the Kirchberg vicinity.

We set off in multiple teams, motivated to try make a difference and channel the competitive spirit for some good. It paid off. Together we collected over 50kg of waste in under 2 hours! The Accor chain’s employees in Kirchberg contributed direct action to the improvement of their neighbourhood. And it was Greenworlder’s goal to help the project in any way possible, in the spirit of co-creating sustainable solutions we helped with social media organisation for the event, and of course we joined in and were not afraid to get our hands dirty.

Aside from that, it was simply great fun, there was a good team spirit whipped up by the event, it was not Novotel Kirchberg’s first Cleaning Day, and it will by no means be its last, maybe next time more members of the public will have the chance to join this direct action for a sustainable future. We look forward to seeing what other exciting projects we can work on together.
